Two finals per class. Big names in trouble. And reserves earning their keep.
Townsville launched the 2026 AUSX season in front of 16,095 fans, with Christian Craig sweeping SX1 and Brodie Connolly emerging from the SX2 chaos on top. On FastMoto, lil.mckee claimed the opening-round win with a dominate 470 points, finishing 18 clear of a six-player pack locked on 452.
The first lesson of the season? Every spot on your team matters.
SX1: Craig sweeps. Mellross cashes in.
Christian Craig was the benchmark, winning both finals ahead of an overall podium completed by Cedric Soubeyras and Luke Clout. Clout showed his speed with the Superpole win before going 4–2 in the finals.
But the biggest fantasy haul belonged to Hayden Mellross. Fifth and fourth, combined with his +4 handicap, delivered two maximum base scores. Add the second-final holeshot and Mellross finished on 60 points, ten more than Craig.
Further down the field, Luke Zielinski’s 6–6 and Ryan Alexanderson’s 8–7 both returned 50 points with their +9 handicaps. Jorge Zaragoza also banked 50, alongside Brandon Steel, Joel Cigliano, Reid Lehrer and Shaun Jennison.
You didn’t need to win a race to match the rider who won both. You needed the right result for the handicap.
SX2: Connolly delivers through the chaos
Brodie Connolly won the opening final despite a crash, then secured the overall with third in Final 2 after Michael Hicks’ post-race penalty reshuffled the order. Max Anstie was credited with the second-final win, ahead of Lux Turner and Connolly. For fantasy players, Connolly’s 60 points made him the class standout. His +2 handicap and opening-final holeshot turned a dramatic night into a premium return.
Noah Ferguson, Jai Constantinou, Seth Burchell, Caleb Goullet and Connar Adams each delivered 50 points. Meanwhile, Anstie’s second-final recovery brought him to 35, with Cameron McAdoo finishing on 30.
The double-points swing was huge: Ferguson returned 100 as a FastMoto Rider, compared with McAdoo’s 60. That 40-point difference alone exceeded the gap between first and 15th this round.
Inside lil.mckee’s winning team
235 points in SX1. 235 in SX2. Perfectly balanced at 470. Clout and Ferguson supplied a combined 194 points as the two FastMoto Riders. Zielinski, Alexanderson and Constantinou added another 150 between them.
But the reserves were crucial. Jesse Bishop and Ryder Kingsford recorded zero, bringing Vince Friese’s 41 and Connolly’s 60 into play. That’s 101 points from reserve cover, while Brock Flynn contributed 25 to complete the winning total.
The takeaway for your next team: Your reserve deserves more than a last-second click.
